Who We Are: Eyehategod from New Orleans
We're Eyehategod, a sludge metal band from New Orleans, Louisiana. Slow, heavy, fuzzed-out riffs and harsh vocals: that has been our sound from the start, and it's the world our merch comes from.
Where did we start?
Jimmy Bower on guitar and Joey LaCaze on drums founded the band in New Orleans on April 20, 1988. The first line-up also had Mark Schultz, Steve Dale and our first singer, Chris Hilliard. Mike IX Williams took over the vocals soon after, and he is still our singer today.
Who is in the band now?
We're a four-piece:
- Mike IX Williams: vocals
- Jimmy Bower: guitar
- Gary Mader: bass, since 2002
- Aaron Hill: drums, since 2013
Brian Patton played lead guitar with us from 1993 to 2018. Joey LaCaze, our founding drummer, died on August 23, 2013.
What do we sound like?
Sludge metal: heavy, slow and loud, with guitars turned all the way up. Our first album, In the Name of Suffering, came out in 1990, and our latest, A History of Nomadic Behavior, in 2021. Six studio albums in all.
What's in the store?
Our designs, on tees, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies, with kids' and youth sizes too. Every design comes on black and on white, and every product page has its own size chart.
Tip: start with the design you'd wear the most, then pick the garment.
