Our Line-up Through the Years

· The Band

We've been a band since 1988, and the people in it have changed along the way. Here's who played with us, and when.

Who founded Eyehategod?

Guitarist Jimmy Bower and drummer Joey LaCaze, in New Orleans, on April 20, 1988. The first line-up also had Mark Schultz and Steve Dale, with Chris Hilliard singing. Mike IX Williams replaced Chris on vocals and has sung for us ever since.

Who joined later?

  • Brian Patton: lead guitar, 1993 to 2018
  • Gary Mader: bass, since 2002
  • Aaron Hill: drums, since 2013

Joey LaCaze, our founding drummer, died on August 23, 2013. Aaron Hill has played drums with us since that year.

Who is in the band today?

Since Brian left in 2018 we've been a four-piece: Mike IX Williams on vocals, Jimmy Bower on guitar, Gary Mader on bass and Aaron Hill on drums. That's the line-up on A History of Nomadic Behavior, our 2021 album.

Which records go with which years?

The early years: In the Name of Suffering (1990) and Take as Needed for Pain (1993).

The middle years: Dopesick (1996) and Confederacy of Ruined Lives (2000).

Later on: Eyehategod (2014) and A History of Nomadic Behavior (2021).
